Section "Language Variation, Language Change, Language Contact"
Goals of Section
The Section VCC is a vibrant hub for the realms of language variation, contact, and change, where PhD candidates – alongside their dissertation projects – converge with esteemed experts from the University of Vienna and beyond. Our aim is to cultivate an inspiring environment so that diverse linguistic landscapes and philological perspectives can intertwine, fostering innovation and collaboration. At the heart of the Section VCC lies a dynamic program that blends theoretical exploration, methodological innovation, and empirical investigation. Through lively discourse and spirited reflection, we explore the complexities of language from both intralingual and multilingual angles and nurture a community where creativity thrives and boundaries of linguistic scholarship are transcended.
The exact structure of the Section's program for the period 2024–2026 will be announced and put up for discussion at the first "General Assembly" of the section (tba).
