Section "Global Entanglements: Frictions and Negotiations"

We are interested in the world: from a literary and cultural studies perspective, as historians, social scientists and religious scholars, with an interest in ethnomusicological, linguistic and socio-political issues. In addition, we work with numerous regional scientific references and thus consider our subjects from an African, Asian, Latin American and Scandinavian perspective, for example.

What motivates our interest, which we want to discuss, develop and research together with you as doctoral candidates in order to produce dissertations that promote knowledge? We are all convinced that it is worthwhile to understand the world in its interconnections, contrasts, conflicts, nestedness and interdependencies. In concrete terms, this can mean that we reflect on the practices that make research possible, be it 'intellectual work' or concrete action. It can also imply a critical examination of the nature of the relationships between the centre and the periphery and thus the question of what "entanglements" and "narratives" consist of materially, discursively and ideally. Many other concrete approaches to "entanglements and their narratives" will emerge from the projects you are working on in your dissertations.

Our aim is to promote exchange and networking across disciplinary boundaries and dissertation areas in this section - conceptually open-minded, interdisciplinary and collegial.

To this end, we will support you as you embark on your doctorate, accompany you as you research, think and write, and motivate you to realise your knowledgeable, innovative and creative potential as you complete your thesis. Last but not least, you should also find your future place in an "entangled world" and be able to look back on your time as a doctoral student with pleasure.
