The Section "Manuscript Cultures" is organizing a lecture by the sinologist Prof. Martin Kern from Princeton University

Prof. Kern will present a lecture on November 11th on the subject of "The Sociology of Text in 300 BCE China: Language, Community, Manuscripts"

The lecture will focus on the relationship between the archaeology of literary manuscripts (not documents), their materiality and visuality, and the practices of reading, interpretation, teaching, and performance in the interpretive community at one of the principal Chinese royal courts—the court of Chu—at the time.
