die von der „DocSchool PhilKult“ unterstützte Konferenz der Vereinigung für Sozialwissenschaftliche Japanforschung zum Thema “(Un)Democratic Futures: Japan and the Global Trajectories towards an (Un)Equal World” findet vom 7.-9. November 2025 an der Japanologie der Universität Wien statt und ich möchte hiermit alle Interessierten herzlich einladen.
Besonders auf das Peer-Support Panel der DocSchool Sektion "Globale Verflechtungen und ihre Narrative", welches im “Brownbag Lunch” -Format (Essen wird bereitgestellt) am Samstag (8.11.2025, 13:00-14:30) stattfindet, möchte ich hiermit hinweisen.
Unter dem Thema "Career Paths between Area Studies and Disciplines: Writing for a Truly Global Audience" werden Doktorand:innen und etablierte Wissenschaftler:innen über Möglichkeiten und Schwierigkeiten im Austausch über Fachgrenzen hinaus gesprochen werden. Nach Kurzvorträgen soll Raum zum Austausch, Vernetzung und vielleicht sogar zum Anstoß zukünftiger Kooperationen gegeben werden. Ich würde mich freuen so viele Kolleg:innen wie möglich begrüßen zu dürfen.

Dear Colleagues,
The conference of the Association for Social Science Research on Japan (VSJF), supported by the DocSchool PhilKult, on the theme “(Un)Democratic Futures: Japan and the Global Trajectories towards an (Un)Equal World”, will take place from 7–9 November 2025 at the Department of Japanese Studies, University of Vienna. I would like to warmly invite everyone who is interested to attend.
I would especially like to draw your attention to the Peer-Support Panel of the DocSchool section “Global Entanglements and their Narratives” which will be held in a “Brownbag Lunch” format (lunch will be provided) on Saturday, 8 November 2025, from 13:00 to 14:30.
Under the title “Career Paths between Area Studies and Disciplines: Writing for a Truly Global Audience,” doctoral candidates and established scholars will discuss opportunities and challenges in interdisciplinary exchange. After short presentations, there will be time for discussion, networking, and perhaps even the initiation of future collaborations. I would be delighted to welcome as many colleagues as possible.
